Tactical stock for Savage 112

I'm looking for a good tactical stock for the Savage 112 long action rifle. I find the Choate Ultimate Sniper stock to be excessively heavy and bulky, so I've ruled that out. My requirements are adjustible length (with removable spacers, preferrably), an adjustible or higher cheekpiece (for a large obejctive scope, and the higher sightline it demands), provision to mount a Parker-Hale type bipod, lighter & less bulky than the Choate, and not super expensive. Any suggestions?

I just stumbled across your post. I'm sorry you didn't get any replies and mine may not be what you're looking for, but.....

I have a Savage .223 model 12 with the target barrel. I mounted it on the Choates Sniper stock and put a Simmons 6.5-20x50mm scope and a Harris bipod on it. Yeah, it's heavy, but I love it. I can consistently shoot sub-MOA at 250 yards with it. I guess it all depends on what you want to do with it, but if it's anything to do with varmint or benchrest type shooting, this is just about an unbeatable combination. It's also a real show-stopper for starting conversations. Most folks agree - it's very sinister-looking, but "cool".

Food for thought.

Choate also makes the "ultimate varmit stock" which has all the adjustments and is less massive than the "ultimate sniper stock".

I saw your posting and I was wondering if Choate had a website that I could take a look at the stocks on. I have a Savage in 7mm Remington Mag and I'm also interested in replacing the stock. I curreuntly have a simmons 3-9 but I'm interested in replacing that with a leupold. I would appreciate if anyone could include the link to websites where I could find info on stock, preferably synthetic.

My Savage M12BVSS-S .22-250 is bedded into one of their laminated stocks - Nice for vibration dampening, and very pretty. I had to do a bedding job on it tho...

Shoots in the low to mid threes - Not benchrest, but darn close, for less than $900 with scope, trigger, bedding job and scope mounts...

Bogie, I'm about to order the scope for my 112BVSS. It's a 30-06. Am I going to have to rebed this thing, maybe with aluminum epoxy? And where did you find your aftermarket trigger?

You can buy either stock much cheaper from Ryan at the number listed below.

JWR--Call Ryan at Infinity Firearms in NE OKlahoma for the Sharpshooter Trigger. I bought one from him about a year ago for about $80. Mine is set to about 32oz and its crisp as can be. Its pretty easy to install by widening the trigger outlet in the stock with a Dremel. Ryan's number is 1-918-333-3069.
