Tactical Slugs?

Are these things worth a darn? I've never found a good deal on them, and thus haven't shot any, but according to Louie Awerbuck all the brands he tried (granted, last time I talked to him was almost two years ago) crapped out by the fifty yard mark. Apparently the manufacturers use the standard slugs and simply drop the powder charge, meaning that the projectiles start destabilizing MUCH sooner.

Try ammoman.com for decent prices. I have used the Federal and Remington reduced loads out to around 75 yards and they are OK to there - not that I plan to argue with Louis Beyond that I want a rifle anyhow.

I tried some of the Remingtom reduced recoil slugs. They shot so-so but they wouldn't reliably function in my 11-87 Police so the rest will have to be used in my 870. I just decided to go with regular full power slugs since, as was noted above, they shoot better at longer distances.
