Tactical Shotgun Light

I just picked up a Remington 870 tactical model.

Curious what your thoughts are on adding a light?

The surefire is pricey but its nice to have the integrated pressure switch. I'm not a fan of lines and cords.

VS.

A bit cheaper but you have to remove your hand off the fore end to activate and deactivate.

Curious if the surefire is worth the extra $$$.

The Surefire 618 is expensive, but is really the best choice, if you want to spend that much. It produces an honest 200 lumens, is very durable, and is easy to operate. I have one on one of my guns. It produces a very white light, with a concentrated hot spot, good throw, and OK spill.

There are many other clamp/rail mounted options, of course. I recently installed an Elzetta light on a gun and I think it's a great light. It uses Malkoff drop-ins, which, IMO, are the best LED's. The Elzetta offers interchangeable tailcaps and bezels and can thus be setup as high/low, high/strobe, etc. I use a Malkoff M61 in the Elzetta and it produces 260 lumens with more natural color temperature than the Surefire and more spill, perfect for HD. http://www.elzetta.com/

The one negative of the Surefire foreend (and many new Surefire lights) is that in order to upgrade them, one must buy a whole new integrated housing/ bezel/LED unit, whereas with their older lights (including the forends), you could simply upgrade the LED.
