Tactical Rings

Hi all,
Just wondering what the difference between Tactical and normal scope rings are?
You can get 4 screw Weaver Tactical rings and then you can get Weaver 4x4 rings.
It seems the only difference is: A, you can pay more; and B, you can now own a pair of Tactical rings to fit you Tactical Scope, Tactical Base and Tactical rifle.

Or am I missing something important?

I'm talking b=about decent branded stuff, not $5 no brand scope rings here, although you can get Tactical ones of them too!

Cheers

"...am I missing something..." Hi. Nope. The difference is the price, as you've noticed. There's no such thing as a 'tactical' anything. The word 'tactical' is a marketing term. The marketing 'buzz word' used to be 'Police'.

Mostly looks and to a degree the strength. Ive noticed that *some* tacrical rings appear to be manufactured better in terms of tolerances.

Yea... the "tactical" word gets thrown around a lot, but it does seem to yield better search results when you're looking for stuff that's built... better, like these:

I didn't feel like the price was crazy, and they have the optional picatinny top cap. Either way, their built like a brick poop house. For me and mine, they didn't require any lapping or anything, and the scope was only about 2" off of zero @ 100. after mounting. Solid, and easy to install... or maybe it was just dumb luck.

Mostly a marketing term. Some tactical rings are stronger and have an extra pair of screws. The Burris xtreme tacticals are a reasonable price and very well made. The last few sets of rings I have bought have been Warne QD's in 1" and 30mm.
