Tactical Light for AR15

I have a pig issue at my lease, and I'm thinking about putting on a good tactical light on the lower rail of my ar15. They typically come out 30 minutes after dark, and I can set up for close shots out of my bow stands.

The other thing... I don't want to spend $500 on a top end surefire.

what pressure switch activated lights work well?

LMAO

do you realize how much a roll of duct tape costs these days! :D

seems like a good deal for the mount and light.

I have the old 80 lumen TLR-1 on my nightstand pistol and like it enough that I ordered a newer 135 lumen TLR-1 C4 for my work in progress AR.

Optics planet does have the best price but always call and check stock before ordering from them.

I sent them a message about a couple different light setups.

I'm not "planning" on using hte light past 30 yards or so, but you know how that goes...

the problem is, on my AR, I don't have rails on the handguards, I only have the rail on the gas block, so the space is limited for some of the longer and brighter lights.

The smaller TLR-1 has another version (TLR-2) which also has a laser next to the light..... pretty sweet. It's $130 more, so I'm not sure It's really worth it.

I know this is a stupid question... but how bright is 80 lumens? What is that comparable to?

+1 Streamlight TLR-1s, will attach to your rail without tools.

Have the orginial bulb model and the first LED (80 lumen) too; durable, light weight, good batter life, compact, can be used on any rail equipped item. For the money best there is. The light throw of even the 80 lumen orginial exceeds 30 yards with good spread.

My first AR had no rail system, two choices, a FS rail mount (used nicely made but pricey Command Arms) or a lower handguard add on rail. Like MI's that can be purchased with a med. sized broom stick handle for less money and is more practical - Bravo has a nice package on sale now for under $40. Do like the light or the FS, allows easy thumb manipulation while holding the foreguard.

Not a laser fan but that is your call.

that is nice.

So basically, the pressure switches are built right into the handguards?

would you send me a PM whenever you get yours, I'm interested in knowing the condition of them.

Yes about the switches and there are also a pair of LED for low light.
And yeah , I'll post my findings.

A Surefire G2 in a GG&G mount may be what your looking for; relative quality and performance at a competitive price point.

Hi All,
I received the M500A unit last night. It took about 2 minutes to install using a Brownells foregrip removal/install tool ($26).
The Surefire unit came as a used, sold as is, part. The light output is decent. There are few scratches on the IR filter cover that do not affect how the system works at all. There is a higher output replacment lamp that I've ordered along with a case of the CR123 batteries.
Overall I'm please with the purchase and I'll report back after my first Practical Rifle Night Match coming up on the 13th.
Note to self re: Surefire products-They work well but they're not cheap!

I guess we can turn this into a product review as well..

I bought the TLR-1. I just didn't think the laser was worht another $130.

I'll post back when I get it in, and have a chance to shoot some piggies this weekend.

I have a Surefire poly light w/ P61 100+ lumen lamp upgrade on a relatively cheap 1" set of rings on my AR -- for less than $100 I have a quality light on my AR and it works very very well
