I was thinking of doing a duracoat for a new handgun purchase.
I would like to see any handguns with duracoat, spray paint, or any other cool aftermarket finishes on your handguns or just souped up tactical handguns, lets see your pictures if you got them.
There's nothing wrong with Duracoat. Granted, I wouldn't slap it on an AR or other high-end firearms. But just to mess around with, what's the problem? Plus unless you're looking for blued or black, kind of hard to find different colors with other finish manufacturers without paying a lot more.
this one left the factory pretty dang close to how I wanted it. black/OD with rail and night sights.

factory grips with Chip McCormick 10 rounder and TLR-1
I ended up going with the original pachmayr because they're thinner but I cut off the wrap-around portion and put some grip-tape on the front strap to increase grip and reduce the grip circumference.
My dad is in the midst of an experiment of sorts with the finish on one of his pistols. He's got an IJ-70 Makarov that he uses as a car gun with a finish that left a lot to be desired. The gun was purchased for a mere $150 and is a good shooter, but the previous owner had worn all the blueing off and lightly pitted the metal exterior. To add insult to injury, the previous owner simply gave the gun a heavy coat of black spraypaint and did a rather poor job of it.
Well after living with the little ugly duckling for a couple of years, dad finally decided to do something about the finish yesterday. He stripped all the old pain off and polished the metal with extra fine sandpaper and steel wool. He then applied high-temperature engine paint making the slide flat black and the frame silver. The gun actually looks pretty good right now although it hasn't been carried or shot yet. I'll be interested to see how well the paint holds up.
