Tactical Belts

The most common size is 1.5" It will support more weight than a 1.25" and fit a wider selection of jeans than a 1.75".
 
I have purchased several gunbelts over the years. None have seen as much use as my Dillon Prcision gunbelts. I understand they are only making them in Black these days.

I have two custom gunbelts made by Javier Jimenez, Odessa, TX. Great belts. But Dillon is just as good, IMHO.

Don't know about "tactical" BUT:

The thickest belt possible that will fit the belt loops in your britches is the best because its the most comfortable.
 
I'm a long time prowler here at tfl, first time poster. Been looking for a good topic to chime in on I suppose :cool:

Anyhow, check out Aresgear Ranger Belts. They're supposed to be the greatest thing ever. I've endured 6 weeks of the 6-8 week waiting time for one and from what I've heard- they're well worth the cost.

And 1.5" seems pretty common.
 
I like the 1.5" Wilderness tactical and Galco's copy of them. They aren't dress belts but I don't have to dress up. Plus I like being able to adjust the belt length to any length, velcro, for iwb, owb or nothing at work. They say you can emergency repel with them. I'd like to try it on a hoist at work sometime.
 
How about a nice leather 1.5 inch gun belt? I'd check out www.thebeltman.net These are the best gun belts I've came across. They aren't cheap, but if you are serious about CCW and if you plan on carrying a heavy gun, you need a well made leather gun belt.

All I can say to that is: the center seam of your britches isn't NEARLY as comfortable as a swiss seat. ;)
 
Belt widths, styles, brands....

I'd agree, in general a well made 1.5" width, lined(support system) belt will work great for carry-duty type sidearms(SIG P229, Glock 17/19, Commander 1911a1, DA revolver; 4" bar).
Good brands include Blackhawk, 5.11, The Beltman, Kramer Leather, Galco.
Ken Null, Milt Sparks and Mitch Rosen sell dress/concealment belts.
Rosen's belts narrow to 1.25" in the front. ;)
 
Ive used the Wilderness and a couple of other copies for about 15 years now. They are the most comfortable and wearable belt going. They adjust to any point along their usable length, with no need to try and hit a hole. Add or loose a little weight or bulk, and you can instantly and comfortably adjust.

I prefer the Wilderness belts over the copies, and their 5 stitch, 1.75 width belts specifically.

The only downside to them is, they tend to "look" like a gun belt to those who know what they are. Some of the better leather ones do too, but they tend to be a little more discrete and covert. Not that a belt specifically means youre wearing a gun, any more than a big pocket knife clipped to a front pockets, or your choice of footwear, or other apparel, but sometimes it pays to think about it.
 
.50Caliber, whether you want 3-stitch, 5-stitch or polymer-lined (CSM) depends on how much stiffness you want. I'm told that if you're not carrying a lot of gear on the belt or using it for competition, the 5-stitch should be plenty stiff enough. That's the way I'll go, if I go with a Wilderness.

tmorone, as for the Ares Gear belts: Yeah, they're alleged to be nice, and they sure look sharp, but I'll be darned if I'm going to have a seller/maker having my money for two months before they actually send me what I paid for.
