T/C Venture Info Needed

I am interested in the T/C Venture bolt action rifle in 7mm-08. Does anyone one one of these? Could you please give a short review?

Thanks for the help!

I have a .308 and a .270 WSM. The bad, the metal finish is pretty much high heat spray paint. The stock is not the prettiest stock in the world. The trigger needs to have trigger work done on it to be wonderful.

The good: My .308 will literally hang with my 6 PPC bench gun for 4 shots. After 4, the group begins to open up quickly.
My .270 WSM is 5 shot sub MOA. I guess average would be 7/8" at 100. 3 shot groups would average 1/2 inch at 100. It is ammo picky. It likes what it likes and it does not like very much. It is a picky eater. The .308 will shoot the 168 match king no matter how you feed it. I really think it would shoot a 168 sub-moa if I loaded it with Pyrodex.

I'm not sure what happened to your finish, but my blued Venture .308 has a nice polish blue finish.

I've only used a couple of kinds of ammo in mine, but it loves 150 Core-Lokt.

I think they are a great gun. The trigger on mine is the best I've ever had on a rifle.

Both of my finishes look like crud. The silver is showing through in 30 or so places on the .308. The .270 has a bit better finish. It is one of the very early Ventures. The ones that got recalled twice.
I do not really personally care though because my good friend does Cerakote. I send him so much business I can get these 2 done free when I get tired of looking at them.

In .270win: Very accurate for a hunting weight rifle. Adjustable trigger. Short bolt throw (three lug). The silver finish is Not stainless; it's some type of coating. TC CS is great (dealt with them on a part to a ML that I broke and they replaced at no cost and also dealt with them on the Venture sear recall). For a hunting rifle in that price range, you will most likely be satisfied.

I got one for my dad for his retirement gift and we are very happy with it. He is a Bench shooter with sporters type person and can stack 5 rnds in a single hole at 100 yds on a good day with handloads of Varget and 155grn. A-max in .308.

The finish is a paint but hunting and shooting here in humid and rainy Alabama have zero rust problems, and the stock is very comfortably contoured and manages recoil fine. First shots ever fired out of it were M-80 surplus and they grouped 5 in about .70in or so

Maybe it was early technique? I've owned two total and they both had nice finishes. More like traditional style bluing.

Either way I still think they are very underrated rifles.

I own a venture compact in 7-08. I can cover 5 shots with a quarter shooting the hornady 139 grain interlock bullet. Not the prettiest stock but it is much more stiff than most any other synthetic rifle at its price point. The trigger is user friendly and adjusts quite nicely. The only thing im not a huge fan of is the bolt design/shape not the easiest the run with gloves on in the cold for me. Not to mention its kinda ugly however those are some low rent issues most people could care less about. Overall a great shooter and built solid. Go for it!

Orion, let me clarify. The action is a beautiful blued finish. The bolt is a decent dark blue (almost black) finish, the barrel looks like it was spray painted with barbeque grill paint. (both rifles pretty much the same except the earlier one seems to have a more durable finish on barrel, but it is equally ugly.)
