T/C Omega

Can anyone tell me your experiences with this ML? I handled one and the main thing that appeals to me is the short barrel (handiness), combined with the nice stock. I'm sure it's good quality too, being a T/C, but what about functionality - pros/cons vs. other styles of inlines?

In particular, I was eyeing the X7:

How is the X7 better than the regular?

And what's the Triumph do differently - what's its raison d'etre?

Also, is the "Katahdin" 20" bbl ML still available for the encore? That's an even handier dude than the X7.

Bought the boys one for christmas last year, and so far, all I can say for them is they are great. Only problem I've heard from any of them, is short, fat, fingers have trouble putting the primer in and out under a scope. It is no problem for me, but I don't have thick fingers. One of my sons does, but even he says that it is not impossible, it just takes him being careful.

Other than that, I don't think you can by a better, out of the box ML, from anyone.

FirstFreedom, try going to cabelas and basspro and read some of their reviews as well. You might have already done so, but one of the complaints is that the stock is extremely slick. I personally don't own one, but I did pick one up the other day at Dicks Sporting Goods, and it felt sweet. I'm not sure how much I would like the peep sights though (my personal preference). I guess it wouldn't matter if a guy places a scope on it. Overall, you can't go wrong getting a T/C. They make high quality guns. Good luck with your choice. Let us know what you think of it if you make a purchase.

I think the Omega is TC's top selling muzzle loader, can't beat the quality, i shoot a CVA Kodiak that operates on the same principle, difference is price, i paid 169.97 for mine it is synthetic black with the nickle barrel, shoots great but then its not TC, but works great for me. you will like the Omega very well, if money is an issue check out the CVA Kodiak:)

I shoot an Omega. Great gun. I use T/C 250 gr Shockwave sabots over 3 50 gr 777 pellets. This combo is deadly on deer out to as far as I care to shoot.

I put a Williams receiver sight on mine (the same sight on the X7). The aperture on the sight is too small for low light shooting. I unscrewed the aperture and use the hole it screws into for shooting. Let's enough light through to shoot until near total darkness. I used this set-up to take several deer.

Ive been hunting with my Omega for two years now, and It has taken 8 deer. It is easy to clean, easy to load, and easy to shoot. My smallest group is 1.5" at 100 yards. Most around 2"tho.
