T/C Contender trigger????

Just acquired a used T/C Contender in 98 percent condition.

This one has the adjustable hammer for rimfire and centerfire cartridges.

My question is this, once the contender is cocked and a cartridge is in the chamber, the trigger can be pulled and hammer dropped from the half-cocked position. Then contender must then be cocked again. Is this normal for contenders?

By the way this is my first contender and I know little about them. It is in .22lr 10 inch match barrel.

Thanks for your help

The Contender is a fine gun, with rifle-like accuracy in most examples, and a nicely adjustable trigger. Its action, however, is unlike most other guns. I would strongly advise requesting an instruction booklet from the factory (e-mail tech@tcarms.com) or writing the factory in Rochester, N.H. The drill is easy once you know it, but is far from intuitive, as you have discovered. --slabsides
