T/C Contender forend hole spacing for rifle forend

I have a contender Super 14 barrel in .223 that I want to mount a rifle forend on. Is the hole spacing the same as those for the Super 14 pistol forend? Don't want to purchase one unless I can confirm first. Anyone got any ideas? Called S&W to ask them since they aquired T/C and they could not tell me, which doesn't surprise me since they had my contender for 5 1/2 months doing a repair. The first 2 1/2 months they didn't even know where the gun was. In a somewhat defense of them, they did waive the $55.00 charge for the repair. However, 5 1/2 months without my T/C left me with severe lingering withdrawl symptoms.

that is kind of unusual but years ago TC had some of the best customer service out. I don't know if it went down hill because of S & W or not. as far as the fore end I believe the hole spacing is different. I had a 223 carbine barrel kit and it didn't shoot for crap. it almost made my Ruger mini-14 look like a match rifle. I had the super 14 barrel in 223 and it shot very good

The .223 Super 14 shoots great. Shot a couple of starter loads that printed around .75 to 1.254 inches. Tried some different powders and shot 3 different groups ranging from .280 to .466. The Smith problem is probably due to their shutting down some of the operations in New Hampshire and moving them to the Smith plant. Just hope these problems don't continue. Called them yesterday about a replacement extractor for the .223 and the person I talked with seemed lost. He said he didn't see one in their inventory. I told the guy that it should be the same as a .222/.222 mag./7mmTCU etc. They are all share the same sized case head. He found it that way. You know some of the best firearms were produced in the New England states. Now, so many of them have shut down or moved to other areas. What a shame.
I measured the Super 14 spacing at aproximately 3.080 anyone know the spacing for the rifle forend?

Thanks DnPRK.
Guess I'll order a custom forend since the existing hole spacing will not allow another hole to be drilled to accept the rifle forend. I'll have a 4 month wait on that part unless I can find someone that has them in stock.

I don't know about the Contender but I know for a fact that they are different on an Encore. Since T/C did this on an Encore, it wouldn't surprise me if the Contender was different also.

As a way around it, you can use a hanger bar. Hanger bars made for the Encore have holes drilled in both positions so if your Contender follows the same pattern, the hanger bar would allow you to switch back and forth between a pistol and rifle forend.
