T/C Compass in .308, is 1/12 twist OK for 175g bullets ?
Dialing things in slowly, using my buddy the Jarhead Gunny barrel break in procedure of shoot a round, clean, shoot a round, clean.....
Out of the box accuracy is superb, even with every day hunting ammo, within the 1 MOA guarantee, but I see Federal Gold Match 175g BTHP, the good stuff, on sale at Palmettto (yeah, I know, slow as hell to ship) for 85 cents a round shipped 10 boxes at a time. That is getting pretty close to reload costs for similar components, so here is my question-
With the 1 in 12" twist, would the 175g bullet be too heavy ? Lots of folks claim better trajectory with 175g than the 168g offering, especially at long range.
Any opinions ?
Thanks in advance !
