Swiss army help

This may not be the right place, but I am looking for an opinion. I have a collection of Swiss Army handguns beginning with 1878 revolver and ending with the first three releases of SIG 210's and am wondering the interest of such a collection.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

PLEASE tell us you have the means to post photographs of those firearms! The Sigs alone would leave me drooling for weeks!

A PICTURE

This is most of it. Do you think there is a market for the collection? Is it worth posting for sale?

Opinions appreciated.

It would be hard to sell the entire collection as a whole, but sold as individual pistols should be fairly easy to find buyers.

There would be interest in the collection but finding a collector with the resources to import and purchase the entire collection could be difficult. You might try to find a forum or importer dedicated to Swiss firearms as a way to get in contact with collectors.

Sure, there are a lot of collectors in the US that would be interested in the whole set - depending on the price of course. You obviously know what you paid for them / and probably know the value in europe ...but you need to do some homework to establish a realistic value in the US.

Many times in the US / a serious collector will find out about an "estate sale" ....and go in and buy an entire collection for $ 5,000 - $ 50,000 ...either for their own enjoyment or to keep a portion of it / and sell whatever they have no interest in.

But a collection this unique / needs to find a "unique" buyer - so you are going to have to do some homework and find an FFL holder / dealer that will be willing to help you do the paperwork, etc to get them imported / maybe help you establish value.

Most collectors just want to write the check / we don't want to fuss with customs, cost of freight and insurance, etc. - other than to fill out the appropriate transfer paperwork to pickup the guns once they are legally in the US. ( I'm not a Sig collector / although I have several newer Sigs ....I treat my Sigs as utilitarian weapons not collectors items ). Now, if these were a collection of S&W revolvers or high end 1911's ...I'd be asking for extensive photos and appraisals ...and helping you find an importer ...and writing you a significant deposit check as we speak !! --- but you just need to find a Sig Collector ...or bring them into the US on consignment thru a big dealer that will help you.

I appreciate the comments, and I agree it is unique. Of course the bulk of the collection are rare Swiss Army or German Luger produced, only three in the picture are SIG. I have an export dealer and and will deliver to the buyers import dealer all costs included so the only question is purchase price. But then again I agree, it needs to be an interested collector.

Buying such a collection is far beyond my means but I'd sure like to get a close up view in person of your collection. Everything looks to be in very fine condition which will surely command a premium should you decide to sell. I'm sure if you show them around the various gun forums you will find someone interested in the whole collection. Very nice.

I'm going to be the flamer here...

why in the world would you want to sell such a collection?

I think I would go hungry first..... I think it is well worth more than you will probably get from anybody and more important... once they are gone... they are gone for good... can you buy even one gun half as good as those?

If you are going to offer them here - remember to look at the sale rules!

So far this is not an offer, so it's not troublesome.

Have you thought of some of the gun auction firms - like the ones that we see in Shotgun News or Gun Digest?

As you pointed out it was not my intention for this to be an offer. Just hoping for informed views. I will check out the links you suggest. Thanks.

Those SIG P210s may be noteworthy depending upon condition. They were like the holy grail for some folks.

Collections are tricky. Unless you can find two or more buyers for the whole collection, you might be better off selling the guns individually.

Sometimes auction houses will be aware of collectors that would be interested in what you have and can afford them. You might consider contacting those businesses and asking,

I would like to compliment you on such a fine collection. i wish I could afford one of those Lugers. My father was in WWII in the U.S. Army Infantry. He saw a few Lugers, Walthers and other handguns but wasn't able to bring one home. You should have little trouble finding buyers for your collection. The only problem would be as other indicated the export/import laws. Good luck and again that is a fine collection. Thank you for the photo.
