:( First post anywhere so forgive the inexperiance.

I am having trouble with my semi-auto .40 rounds.
They seam to be swelling on one side about
3/4 the way up the case "primer end
(these are not reloads they are Win. & UMC new)
it looks like a band going about 1/4 the way around.

At this point I am not to ancious to put any
more rounds thru it.

Can anyone give me some advise?

Welcome to TFL!

If the area where the case is swelling is just forward of the rim, near the "bottom" or primer end of the casing, I'd say it's consistent with .40 caliber being shot in pistol with an unsupported chamber.

What gun are you shooting these in?

Your instinct is sound.

Don't fire the pistol again until you've had a competent gunsmith check it out!

Best of luck, and stay safe.

I contacted S&W costumer service today & they tell me that the little half moon ring that I am seeing is normal, in moderation.
But they have also told me that I should load one round in the chamber with the "W" from the "WINCHEST name" at 12 o'clock
and fire it, if the "half moon" is at 6 o'clock it is normal because
of the shape of the chamber.
But if I feel that it is excessive then I should send it to them
& they will check it out at no charge to me.

So I think I will send it in to then & not fire it again.

Thanks for the advise everyone. If you can think of anything else
send me a line.
