Whats everyones take on these bullets?. at this point in time i have never fired one. I do a lot of reading and these seem to get great reviews as far as accuracy goes. Are they really a better bullet?. I do not wish to shoot lead bullets in my gun as they are very dirty im being told. Any help is great.

Thats all I use in my revolvers, they are accurate, and I've found they work on everything from foxes to moose.

Great comformise in penitration and expansion.

I don't know they are any dirtier then anything else if was cleans his guns every now and then.

Plus I use them in my little pocket pistol on snakes and small game for the pot while camping.

SWC HP 158's are a classic .38 Special load. I shoot target rounds at 800 fps and +P at about 940. No leading at those velocities. What caliber are you shooting? Soft swaged bullets like the Speers I'm loading will lead your barrel at high velocity. Hard cast, which I load in my .45 Colt, are less likely to do so.

In the winter all our SD guns are loaded with hard cast swc.(perps in fur coats tend to slow down HP's). I use the same in handgun hunting loads for game similar to hogs where you want some bone damage. Our White Tail deer hunting with a handgun can the handled with a .357 mag jfp/jhp and up as our normal distance is less than 50 yds from a tree stand. Lead is my favorite for handguns, availability in weight and form is not all that great on a local level.

If you've never loaded and shot any cast SWCs you're missing out on half of the fun. Read Elmer Keith's books. If the bullets are sized correctly for your barrel and not cast too hard, leading will not be an issue. And minor leading is much easier to remove than copper fouling. Pressures generally run lower on lead bullets also.

Im loading 45 acp rounds. Im new to this as you can tell. So there is nothing wrong with using these bullets?. They are a lot cheaper than what im buying now.

Do a Google search for the HG 68 bullet. (Hennsley and Gibbs, I think). It was THE IPSC bullet for .45 for many years when the .45 ruled. Its a great and accurate bullet.

200 grain SWC are just about all I load for my .45's. They feed well, and are accurate in my two pistols, and my brothers as well. And being cheaper than many other bullets is quite a nice bonus as well.

I've been exclusively using 200g SWC from Precision Delta in .45ACP for a few years now, including IDPA shoots. In my revolvers, I use PD and Laser Cast in .38 and .44. I'm very satisfied in price/value, quality and accuracy!!

Since you said you were new to this I thought I should mention to not load lead bullets for factory Glock barrels. Just in case you were not aware of this. No idea of what you are shooting though. Otherwise, lead is fine in most instances.

Actually lead is fine in a polygonal rifled barrel like Glock uses AS LONG AS you clean the lead out and don't lead it build up. I don't care what you have to use or how you do it, just get it out. I have fired thousands of rounds of lead through polygonal rifled barrels for years and never had a problem. (this was before Glocks were even on the market) The problem is with people who never look into or clean their barrel. And that apparently is a lot of people these days.
