swapping out rear sight on AR, how tight?

im swapping out a DPMS fixed rear for the daniel defense fixed i just received. nothing against the dpms, im just bored and want to see how it is.


anywho, i'm curious about how tight i should screw it onto the rail? when i was putting the dpms on my stag, it seemed no matter how tight it was i could always seem to get a big more. after a while i just stopped for fear of breaking something.

so, is there a rule of thumb here?
 
Kind of hard to put into words.


If you have tightend it down and go for some more and the screwdriver slips that is too much but by then you have probably scratched something :( Sometimes I use some loc tite blue
 
If you are referring to a removable rear sight and not the fixed A1 or A2 rear sight then it should be in the neighborhood of 25 in-lbs for the screw.:confused:

a more specific question would be how tight is too tight?
