I just ordered a Meprolight Tru-Dot Adjustable Sight set... for my SW Model 617. In preparation I've been looking at how to remove the old sights.
I've done alot of mechanical work on machines over the years, I'm not a "smith" but feel I can handle replacing my sights.
I see that the rear sight blade has a special nut that requires a spanner? to remove, and is the screw pein'ed on the end? How does it come off?
The front sight looks like a simple ... remove pin & remove sight.
Is this something I should attempt?
Edit;[ I found a review of the sights I just ordered, and they commented on installation. It appears that it is a one way installation, and that you have to "break" the rear sight adjustment screw to remove it. ]
