SW99/P99 Humor

I was up in Springfield Mass, just yesterday, to an equipment auction that coincidentally happened to be right around the corner (literally) from the *&* Shooting Sports Academy.

Not having enough willpower to resist, I strolled into the retail store, to peruse the current crop of offerings, and guess what I saw.

Something that looked like my P99, but marked 'SW99NJ'.

Price? $700

I wonder what idiots they think they're going to sell those to, when you can buy the 'real deal' P99 every day of the week for less than $650.

More *&* 'slick willy' spin tactic mumbojumbo, or good marketing to sell a potentially collectible gun? You decide.

Don't know. Didn't have enough time to check it out. What 'extra features' were they, just out of curiosity?

I've heard that they added an external safety feature and maybe an internal trigger lock of some kind.

why does everyone always put *&* when referring to s&w? I cannot for the life of me figure it out. At least that is what I think you are referring to when you put *&*

Trimation

We here refer to "that company' as # & * because of their blatient treason in signing the "agreement" with Darth Klinton. Personally, I refer to them as Slick&Willy and their ballistic abomination, the .40S&W, as the 10mm Kurtz.

I have been waiting for these to show up on the market. It would be just like Slick&Willy to try to recoup losses for their folly by selling that diseased abomination to an unsuspecting gun buying public. They were not content to destroy an obvious mistake!!!! The gall of those traitors!!

But....but....who wouldn't JUMP at the chance to own a firearm REJECTED by the New Jersey State Police!!!!! Think of the VALUE, the COLLECTABILITY! You too can be a proud owner of a piece of shi-er-history!!!

denfoote,

I like that 10mm Kurtz! I've been refering to it as 10x21. That always gets a funny look from people.

P99

*&* should be hog tied for dumping those pieces of junk on the unsuspecting public!!!

I really can't believe that they weren't destroyed. NJSP has a policy of destroying their old weapons, as trading them in would put it in the hands of (gasp) the Citizen! Word is that the retiring P7M8s and P7M13s will be destroyed to "keep them off the streets". Over 3,000 P7s to be turned into scrap metal, just so evil folk like you or I can't add them to our collection. :(

I just purchaised a SW99 last week. Shot it for the first time over the weekend. I love it.

There are no new features on the SW99 that I have. It's the same as the Walther but with a differant slide. I have no complaints about the gun. It does have more muzzle flip than the old 1911 .45 and Sig220 .45 I fired that day. But only if you really look for it.

I shot a few rounds out of each without earplugs...the SW99 hardly made a sound compared to the .45 . I actually felt my ear drum tighten, then loud ringing for 30 seconds from the .45 . Not that this is that important, I wanted to add something I haven't seen in other posts. But it does give me second thoughts about using a .45 as a carry weapon. The SW99 .40 actually sounded really cool.

I haven't shot a Walther but I have no complaints about my SMITH&WESSON P-99 rip-off. I love it. I will keep it till it falls apart.

Sacco,
We're not talking about regular SW99s. We're referring to bastardized versions, custom made for the NJ State Police. These guns are marked "SW99NJ". With all the custom changes, these pistols jammed every 3rd or 4th round. Even though they where made per NJSP specifications, the SP returned them to *&* for a full refund.

These pistols are jamamatics, yet *&* is marketing them to an unsuspecting public at premium prices. This is what has us so upset.

sacco, good luck with it. i got to handle one curtosy of a local LEO and it felt very different than my p99. the slide is slightly different, and the frame is different...trigger guard is round.

gusgus, where in south jersey are ya?? i grew up at exit 0 GSP...

Adept,
Good old Cape May, eh? I'm an hour & a half away. 5 minutes from Camden, 4 minutes from Philly, in one of the few towns in this area that still has a "gun friendly" permit officer & chief.
