I was at the range today and just had nothing but the intention to just shoot my Glock 23 gen 4. After I shot of course G23 gen 4 flawless. Rick at sales counter known for a few years. Said John we just got the SW MP 45 Shield in. I looked at it. Fell in love with it. Yep bought it. They gave me an hour free range time. Shot 50 rounds FMJ 230 grn Remington UMC. Flawless. I wanted to try
some hollow points. Box of Rem Golden Sabre 230 grain. Flawless. Then I tried 165 grain Federal personal defense Hydra Shock. My gun had fites. Slide locking back. Ok.....I watched video Hickok45. He stated early on he had issues with hollow points. Then ran 230 grain Hydra Shock was flawless. So I am asking my brothers of the firing line. Have you encountered the issues? Is the lighter grn ammo really not good for her? Please, await your answers to learn. Before I buy carry ammo. I looked at Federal 230 grain HST.

I seem to have that issue with a couple of my .45's. They don't seem to like the lighter grain stuff. I just always buy up 230g now and problem solved. Give Speer 230G Gold Dots a try if you can find them. They run superbly in my M&P .45 full size.

I never run ammo under 200 grains in .45 acp as it tends to not shoot to the sights when I have. My M&P 45 has been going strong since 2008 with no problems at all.

Don't take this the wrong way but isn't shooting light ammo out of a .45 kind of like putting a lift kit on a Pinto (everybody smile, it was meant to be funny)?

Or, to ask this in a much more polite way, what is the advantage of light ammo out of a .45. I would be concerned about sectional density getting so low as to pose a concern.
