SW Model 66 Pics

I was at my local gun dealer this morning, and in the gun case was a used model 66 in really nice condition that caught my eye. The dealer had taken the gun in late in the day yesterday, and I just happened to be the first one to notice it today. The Price, $295.00.

It needs some cleaning, polishing, and I may change the grips, but I think I got a really good buy...I'm not usually that lucky... :D

Those grips are kinda interesting - they sortta look like a bowling ball.

You may want to keep them if they work.....

Russ, you never give up... :D Actually I noticed a small space between the frame, and the grips after I got it home. I took the grips off, and there was rust, and minor pitting on the frame.

I dremeled, and scotch brighted it off, then ordered a new set of Eagle grips.

My thoughts exactly tiny, they not only look like a bowling ball, they feel like one. I think they are handmade (homemade) If anyone want's them let me know, and I'll ship them to you... :)

They fill your hand, and for me they feel OK! But they don't have much shape to them. I think these will look better, don't you???

Hi Bullrock...Nice gun, you can't go wrong with a good M.66. :D I like the new grips you bought, the other ones looked bulky and uncomfortable. Give us a range report after you take it to the range....Norm. PS. Just bought some excellent grips off of Hammerdown 7 for the 586 I bought last weekend, I'll post pics. when I get them in.

Smith66, The old ones I will be trashing in a couple of days. If anyone wants them, I will ship UPS...The New ones are Eagles... :D I'm getting so I don't like the Hogue pullovers...The last Hogue's I bought were for my Ruger Service Six. They required punching out the take-down pin...No way.

I bought a set of eagles for that gun, and they fit perfectly... :)

New Eagle Grips

I just finished up the work on my used SW66, and added a set of Eagle Grips. I purchased this gun for $295.00. Anyone have an opinion how much it should be worth if I sell it???

Bullrock,
I traded into a 66-1 I didn't need (it was part of the deal).

It's super clean.

I have it on the S&W forum for $400 shipped (CONUS) and have received no interest. $400 shipped translates into about $350 for the gun so I guess that's too high for some folks.

$350 is aobut right in this area.

Dave

If I can manage to put aside some time, my local dealer has three M66's, $325-$350. Looking at these pics, makes me want to do a road trip!
I only have one revolver, 686 4inch. It needs company....

Airedale & NETracker, I think you're both right. I probably can't get more than $350 for it although, I did see a 66 Nickle 4" sell for $365.00 plus shipping & transfer at an auction site last night.... :D

I took my SW66 to the range for the first time today. At 30 yards it was so accurate, I couldn't put it down! It may be a keeper... :D
