Guys --

I have a SW Model 15-3 snubby. Serial number 16K1xxx. I need a new rear sight assembly for it and the standard K-frame sight assembly is about 1/4 inch short of filling the channel in the frame. Does anyone know where to find the proper rear sight assembly? I tried Brownells and they only carry the sight assembly for the Model 15-4.

There is a "new style" and an "old style" rear sight for these. You might try Midway. The old style is longer and has a flat front. The new is shorter and has a round front. Millett makes replacement rear sights in both styles (and Midway sells Millet sights).

BTW, there is also a transitional rear sight which is essentially impossible to find now. It's long but has a round front.

Jnewell -- Thank you for the reply. My rear sight is the longer, square front style. I forgot to mention that in my earlier post.

Then you should be good to go. The Millett web page, which is a little clunky, will eventually yield up a page on revolver sights that should show the different styles.

Eww, I take it back. According to this page Millett only makes the round front style. You might double check the model/year info, though, and call both S&W (800-331-0852) and Millett to see what's up.

Well, I already tried the Millet old style rear sight assembly for a post '74 SW K-frame and the one they sent me was just as short as the SW Model 15-4 sight I ordered from Brownells. Looks like I'm calling Smith and Wesson in the morning.

Well, I checked with Smith & Wesson this morning and they said that they no longer carry the rear sight assembly for my Model 15-3. However, they did send me to someone who did. Their web site is www.gunsnparts.com. I called them up and they had the part, NIW. The price was 50 bucks shipped. That's a little higher than what I wanted to spend, but, at least I'll have the right part, I hope, in a few days. Thanks everyone.
