Hi all,

Picking up my first wheelgun Friday. Woohoo!! A S&W .357 686+ 4" barrel. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Fobus roto paddle holster for the 686+. Is it comfortable? Good retention? They're pretty inexpensive at around $25. Anything comparable at that price? It will be used when I'm hiking not for daily carry.

Thanks,

I haven't got the Roto for my 686+, just the regular paddle--but retention is very sound, it's a comfortable way to carry the significant weight of the L-frame--I like it. Not for concealed carry, but for range use or open carry like you're talking about? Seems like a solid, inexpensive way to go.

i have one for my 696 (yes i know it is for a 4" gun) and it fits better then i expected (only because they advertise it for the K/L frame). mine is the regular paddle model.

it is very secure, holds the gun close to the body and is very light on the belt

I have a Fobus belt hoslter for my East German Makarov and I like mine a lot. It holds the weapon quite securely and close to the body and you can't beat the price...

I asked a friend who has one for his 686. He beamed and said it works well for him and didn't break the bank. The Roto holsters might work well for cross draw while driving.........
