SVI - Infinity

Does anyone have any experience or heard any solid opinions of Strayer Voigt Inc. and their Infinity Firearms? I looked at their website, www.sviguns.com , and they have some really nice looking designs. I'm having them send me a catalog and price list. I went to their site to see the titanium Tiki 1911. Really cool looking, but does it work?
Any info, opinions, or rumors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I was looking at high end 1911 clones, it seemed that popular opinion stated that SVI was the top of the line, above Rock River, Les Baer, Wilson etc. I really liked the Tiki-T untill I found out about it's $6000 price tag (thats not a misprint).

You could not ask for something better then an SV! I shot one for '99. It is still running strong with 15,000 documented rounds thru it. I am in a delema over it though. I was thinking of switching guns for '00 but I am too happy with the SV. May just end up shooting in for at least another year!

Thanks for the replies. So if SV's are the best, why don't I ever hear about them along with the Wilson/Les Baer/Rock River debates? Are they just that much more expensive? On their website they have some beautiful single-stack 1911's that don't look "tricked out" for competition. So they must be selling to people other than competitors. $6,000 is a lot, but try and find another all titanium 1911. Are their other guns that high?

You won't find another all titanium 1911 and that is because it won't work right. Not enough mass and momentum density in the slide. Read the magazine article again, they had problems with that one but brushed it off saying it was a prototype. It won't feed right, and over a period of time since there is no mass in the gun to absorb the recoil, it will shoot down into your wrist and hand and give you a good case of carpal tunnel. SV had a all aluminum 1911 the year before at the shot show, and they said that they could not shoot full power loads through it because of the recoil and wear.

Other than that SV makes nice high cap guns. I like them better than the STI's. Their single stacks are good, better than the STI Trojan, but not as good as a real custom 1911 single stack.
