SureFire weaponlight RANT!

Recently purchased a 618FA for my Remy 870 and the light burnt out after 8 seconds of use.

Called Surefire customer service and they immediately agreed to send me a new one. (Great customer service at least)

Two weeks later the replacement light hasn't arrived. Call back Customer service and they said it was sent by USPS and should have been there. They agree to send it again by UPS this time. (Again great customer service)

Receive the replacement light, install it according to the instructions using factory supplied batteries..... it burns out in less than a second (light...poof).

I have a surefire handheld 6Z that uses the same lamp (P60) and put it in and the 870 weaponlight worked fine.

Call back customer service and they agree to send out another replacement lamp.

Great customer service..... but is their product CRAP??!!! Isn't it dangerous to be depending on a piece of equipment that if it should suddenly fail (as it does now) you will be immediately immersed in darkness in a life or death situation (that is when you would really need it right?).

Does anyone have similar experiences or am I just an anomaly???

I am seriously considering returning the weaponlight ($275!!!) and getting a cheapo Maglight (which I have never seen fail) and jury rigging it with 100MPH tape.

I did go over there and repeat the inquiry. Pretty technical types and so far the only suggestion was go to an X200 because the LED type lights are more reliable.

I might have to agree with that. I can't believe people pay close to 3 bills for this setup to receive a false sense of security (ie. my light will work when I need it).
 
I have always had a hard time believing that people pay $275 for a Surefire light. Sure they are a very nice but I think they are incredibly overpriced, I see no reason something like that should cost more than $60-$80, I paid the same $275 for my slighly used Mossberg 590 with a speedfeed stock and a sling. One thing I can tell you is that Surefire is making a killing on those things.
 
Well, I have to post an update in order to reflect a satisfactory conclusion to my problem and give credit where credit was due.

Surefire shipped me yet another lamp for my forearm chasse and it worked!

Then they shipped me (without my requesting) two extra lamps.

All free of charge!

You have to give them props for going above and beyond to make things right.:)
 
i'm a Surefire fanatic.

my newest favorite is the L2 Lumamax.
right now i'm trying to make room in my budget for the C2 Centurion and the Kroma.
 
Kroma's nice. I was enjoying it till the company asked for it back. :rolleyes:
Re the weapon lights, my preference is LEDs, not as bright, but the "bulbs" don't break & they don't burn out.
 
I want a surefire flashlight BAD... The L4 LED model looks like a great combo of brightness and portability.

Glad they took care of you - I've heard alot of good stuff about their customer service.
 
Glad everything worked out. I have used Surefire lights for 3 years and have never had any problems. Have had a few bulbs burn out but after they were used for many hours.
 
Surefire manufacters some great products and they also have great customer service. I also have Surefire Forend on my 870, it is the older version of yours, with no problems. I did however have issues with a gun-mounted light (for Glock), and they were willing to give me a full refund if my dealer wouldn't give me back my money. They are expensive, but you definately get what you pay for.
