Hello all,

Are there other batteries that I could use in my Sure Fire flashlight that are available at places like Walmart, CVS, Target, Best Buy...ect?? I dont like having to gun to the gun store everytime I need replacement batteries, I end buying stuff I dont need. I was looking at some camera batteries that looked about the same size...Anybody know?

Thanks...

John,

I checked your link and your right, not to pricey...I guess what I'm thinking more along the lines of being able to just run to the store and grab some..

Would any 123A Lithium Batteries battery work or do I have to use the sure fire name brand?

Thanks,

Shadi

Today I went to the store and looked for other batteries. It turns out durucell lithiums are more expensive than the sure fire brand. A two back at walmar was 9.99, two sure fires are a 5.05 at my shop in VA. Just a heads up..

If you are running a LED drop in then it would be safe for you to use rechargeable CR123 Batteries.

Would the rechargables not work with the non-LED lights? I recently switched to a Streamlight Stinger XT as my duty light just cause I can recharge it. If I could use rechargables in my Surefires I might start using them again.

Delta, I'm gonna order the recharger. Thanks for the heads up.
Before you spend the money you might call Surefire to verify that the rechargeables will work in your particular flashlight.

Sometimes there are minor dimensional differences that can cause problems and sometimes the voltage of a rechargeable isn't exactly the same which may also cause problems.

Most of the rechargeable CR123 are actually putting out about 3.7 volts instead of just 3 volts. That means in a two battery light like a Surefire 6P or G2 the batteries will be putting out 7.4 volts. That is too much for the regular incandescent 6 volt P60 lamp and it will go poof. The Surefire P60 LED module can handle the additional voltage and is completely safe.

If you are using a Surefire 6P or the G2 LEd as a duty light, then I would recommend that you upgrade to this LED drop in from Malkoff Devices--255 Lumens and safe with rechargeable CR123: http://www.malkoffdevices.com/shop2/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_8&products_id=

Surefires' standard reply is that rechargeable CR123 are not safe in their lights.

I haven't used rechargeables in my 6P, but I have equipped it with a Malkoff devices drop-in. It's a huge improvement over the original incandescent bulb. Both in brightness and runtime.
