Suppressor Help

I am wanting to put a suppressor on a couple of rifles I have.
I am getting the paper work done now since I am going to build them
myself. I am a Master Machinist and will not have an issue with building them.
What I need is advice from those that have either done this or have
large caliber rifles that are suppressed. One rifle is a DPMS LR308T and the other one is a Remington Model 700 Varmit Special in 25-06.
I understand that you can not silence either of these rifles and that is fine.
I want to maintain the hearing that I still have.
Please help if you can!:)

It is truly amazing the difference between shooting a suppressed and unsuppressed high powered rifle. The muzzle blast is 20-30 decibels (100 to 1000 times) less with a good silencer and the sonic boom from the bullet while noticeable is not going to damage your hearing. I recently tested my new homemade (on ATF form 1) silencer for my ar-15 against a well known manufacturer's. While mine was an inch longer and made of steel (not suitable for full auto) instead of SS, inconel and titanium, it was not noticeably louder than the professionally made can. Mine was $30 plus tax, the other one was $900 plus tax.

It is very rewarding to make and use your own silencers. Go for it, I'm sure you will be pleased. http://www.silencertests.com and http://www.subguns.com are the best websites for NFA weapons in my opinion.
