Suppressor for an Air Rifle???

Hi everyone,

I live in NY and was curious to find out it suppressors for air guns are considered NFA items??? Thanks!!!

If it is removable, it could, technically, be adapted to a rifle. So it will likely fall under NFA oversight.

I haven't heard anyone say that the air rifles with integral suppressors are illegal in any particular jurisdictions and they are not restricted by any federal rulings AFAIK...

Any detactable silencer that will work on an air rifle will also work on a firearm, even if only for one round. So this makes them title 2 fireams subject to the $200 tax.

As far as I know the only way to avoid the tax is to have it built integral to an air rifle barrel.

Could swear that Gamo sells a air rifle with a built in legal non removable suppressor. Iirc it's called a whisper something......?

Yep.

For the most part, a detachable airgun silencer is most likely going to be considered an NFA item.
