supported chamber

About 1/16th" of the straight walled portion of the case is exposed. Less than on a 1911, for example. Am I concerned? Not in the slightest. Ruger tested it with every known example of factory ammo available, incl. the +P stuff. Don't worry about it. It's a Ruger!

But can I use reloads in it w/o a significant risk of a Kb? Is 1/16th inch as big as on a Glock's chamber?

You can use reloads in a Glock, just make sure you're an experienced reloader. What you need to avoid in a Glock are unjacketed rounds. You shouldn't have any trouble with reloads in your Ruger.

I don't reload personally. But my buddy has been reloading for years and gives me ammo from time to time that he reloaded-- his reloads are very accurate. I can't say I am comfortable risking my Glock 21 with reloaded ammo--I only use reloads in my Glock 17 (I hear 9mm Glocks have few Kb's). The same applies with the Ruger-- I won't use reloads unless it is safe.
