Support our Australian brothers in arms.

Steve Lee is reaching out to the international firearm-brotherhood for support.
You know, the guy with the I like guns song. Police is trying to reduce the legal firearms ownership to take on the illegal firearms-crimes. The same old story you hear from all around the globe.

Anyway, there is an vote in a news-article where we can show our support. It asks:"Should there be tougher limits on the number of firearms a person can own?" I answered NO. I hope you would take the time to do the same, for our brothers in distress. ;)

I also ask of you that you re-post this on all other firearms related forums you can think of. Together we are strong:D

I put in my vote.

The question: Should there be tougher limits on the number of firearms a person can own?

Current standings:
Yes 28.12% (2691 votes)
No 71.88% (6880 votes)
Total votes: 9571

Seems the anti's use the same stunted logic over there as they do here in the States. Well, I've always said "People are people". I guess I shouldn't expect one country to have a monopoly on irrational hatred for an inanimate object.

Looks like Australian politicians and officials are even more stupid than my own ones here in Spain. And believe me, that is a rather difficult thing to achieve.

Over here, long guns don't appear as that much of a concern. It's handguns what actually worries the authorities. Huh, and the right to self-defense, of course, that legislators and judges consider more of a privilege. You're supposed to let the police defend you, regardless of how long it takes them to arrive on scene (and I'm a cop myself). If you do defend yourself and harm the BG, make sure you can prove he was ill-intentioned, or we'll assume it's you the BG and not the one who assaulted you or broke into your house.

Have nothing against the Aussies, though. I keep a number of Australian friends, had a relationship with an Aussie girl and visited the country in several occasions. It's a great place to live in. Shame is that their Government shares the same kind of patronizing style of ruling we suffer here in Europe. The Government knows what's best for you. You just obey and don't think about it.

Voted no.

Well, the assumption is that the limits are for fewer guns so I voted NO also. However, if the "tougher limits" were along the lines of "Everyone has to have at least two rifles, two shotguns, and four handguns per member of the household, along with a minimum of 1000 rounds of ammunition per gun." then I'd probably be voting YES!! Even then I would not make the limit, need to get more ammo.... :D

Thank YOU Bruno, as an Australian I appreciate this being brought to my attention, and I really appreciate you bringing it to others attention. I also appreciate all the input from others on the matter!

I wish people would look at firearms with logic, not emotions, as these articles always go the same way, they use some absurdly broken logic to "prove" that guns are causing crime. In the article posted at the top of this thread they go on about there being more guns than people in SMALL TOWNS then go on to say that must be the cause of all the gun crime in Melbourne, one of Australia's biggest cities, when even their map shows Melbourne's registered (IE - LEGAL) ownership level is below 1:1...

It is great that the shooting sport has grown so much over the past few years and looks to be continuing to grow more! I am getting ever more tired of emotional morons treating other people who obey the law, are doing nothing immoral, like criminals.

Do they have an Australian Rifle Association, or something similar ?

With such an organization they could funnel their funds and get some political influence.

Something more than voting in polls, if they don't already.

Poll closed 3:1 "No."
That assures this'll never get any traction elsewhere down-under.

Why would someone, anti-gunner or not, be freaked out that anyone (or everyone in that one town) owns 2-1/2 guns? LOL

So is someone to imagine that a bucketful of "NO" votes is going to make the politicians in Australia rescind the current laws against private ownership of handguns? Unfortunately, once a bad gun law goes into effect it is almost never lifted.
