Super Colibri Ammo in Taurus 94

Just got the gun, can't get to the range (or any suitable place) to shoot yet for a couple of days. So, I thought, just for the hell of it, I'd try a couple of rounds of Aquilera Super Colibri (powderless ammo) in my basement. I have used this ammo in bolt action .22 rifles for an "airgun-like" effect in my basement airgun shooting gallery with good results.

Anyway, I got 2 FTF (light strikes) and then I gave up trying. Does the Taurus revolver not have a hard enough strike on the ammo (and the Super Colibris require more of a strike to the rim than other rimfire ammo?) or is my gun defective out of the box? I'd really like to know what the story likely is before I go nuts.

I have never had a problem with the Super Colibri when fired from my S&W revolvers. It is entirely possible that you got a revolver with a problem. (Taurus 94's are rather famous for problems.)

I dare say it is the Taurus 94. I have 0 problems with Colibris even in antique H&Rs. My 94 had problems with different brands of ammunition. They should fire anything loaded in them in 22 lr rimfire. Return it to Taurus.

I have a 94 also. When I first got it I was haveing FTF on 3-4 shots from each load of 9. (Useing Federal bulk packs.) I noticed that the hammer was not hiting that plate that hits the fireing pin square. (Sorry for not knowing the proper names of the parts.)

I sent it back to Taurus for repair. Since they sent it back I haven't had any problems with it other than I hate the heavy trigger pull. Thats been about 7 years now. To finish this story I bought some Aquilera Super Colibri (powderless ammo) and shot it in it with no problems. Check if the hammer is hitting square. That may be the problem.

My wife's Taurus 94 had numerous failures to fire when we first got it.

Taurus sent a replacement hammer spring and that solved the problem.

UPDATE: It WAS the gun. I took it to the range today, tried different brands of ammo, SA and DA. Only about 1 out of every 10 or 12 shots fired.

How the hell can anyone sell a gun that doesn't shoot right out of the box? Don't they test fire them before shipping them out? I guess not. Shame on you Taurus!

And now, it cost me $40 to ship back to them. I just hope they fix it right away and send it back to me quickly. Right now I'm not very pleased.

Right now I'm not very pleased.

I know how you feel. I was pi$$ed when I had to send mine back right after getting it. But. it shoots with no problems for last 7 years. Good luck with it when you get it back and give us and up date please when you do.

Just got my 94 back from Taurus. Not a bad turnarond time, 8 days from when I shipped it to them.

The repair ticket says "Replaced Hammer and Adjusted Cylinder Yoke."

I'm taking it to the range tomorrow to see how it works.
