I'm currently in the market for a Hunter model Ruger (44) and I actually like them both. I am interested in any opinions that you guys/gals may have on pros/cons or just general information. I know I should get both but I would also like to remain married!

Super Red Hawk 44mag.

Hey,
Try shooting a Super Red Hawk before you buy the Super Black Hawk or the Bisley Hunter.
I shot a Super Black Hawk, and found the Super Red Hawk,to be the best gun.
The grips are 100% better, the rubber and rose wood are great,on the hand.
The Super Black Hawk, has a sharp kick to the shooting hand.

I haven't shot the Ruger Bisley's, so I can't comment on that. I have no problem shooting the Blackhawk/Vaquero/Six style frames with their plain vanilla grip. I chose a SBH .44, which I finally picked up tonight and took out for a spin.

I feel so Dirty Harry now.

Seems to me you'd need a pretty small hand for the regular blackhawk handle to fit better than the bisley. My Bisley is a 5.5" accusport .41 mag, not the hunter-deal; but it handles heavy recoil far better than any other handgun I've shot. Biggest, heaviest loads just give up with a little roll and a flip.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to shoot the Bisley next week with some of my handloads. Alot of people seem to think that the Bisley transmits recoil better then the plowhandle shape. I started with that grip and have no problems with heavy loads but it will be fun to try the Bisley. All to the good anyways if you love single actions.:D
Thanks
D Avery
