The pin that holds the cylinder in place, backs out after a couple of rounds, took it to a smith, no better, whats next ??
 
Install a Belt Mountain locking base pin. They are available from Brownells, among other places. It is a drop in replacement with one exception. You must remove the locking set screw, and using a drill press and a jig (you can make your own from wood and clamps) drill a shallow depression in the underside of the barrel. That will give the set screw a place to go. It is really very easy. Don't drill deep, just a tiny depression.
 
I've always kept an eye on the bearing surface around the underside of the screw head. The older & blinder you get the more magnification helps. It usually gets to looking pretty beat up visibly before it starts letting the base pin get by. I have several old models and always keep a couple of spare latch ass'ys around. Being sure to keep it tight helps. When the notch (or groove) on the base pin starts looking beat up it gets replaced as well. The 41's & .44's seem to be the worst offenders, but .357 can do it, too.
 
No Big Deal........

My .45 Colt Vaquero did the same thing when it was new. I took the cylinder pin out and used a small chainsaw file to file the locking groove just a little deeper. End of problem. Many thousands of rounds later it has never recurred.
 
I had the same issue with mine. Tried replacing the pin and spring both but it still kept coming out. Ended up sending it to Ruger. Three weeks later it was back, perfect. Works like a charm. No charge at all.
 
One of the two SBHs I have was also like that. Ruger took good care of me and I got the gun back about a month and a half later. No problems as of six years later.
