The Sullivan Law, which called for registration of handguns, is a State law.

In NY, the local issuing authority sets the rules and can restrict handguns as much as he desires.

People in upstate counties can get CCW without too much trouble, but in NYC they really break your *****. NYC has been pulling CCW permits for no reason other than to do away with them completely. People who have had carry permits for business for many years have had then revoked. Only rich and politically connected people can get carry permits.

My county restricts me to carrying to and from a range only, but upstate residents with the same license can carry unrestricted in my county. None of us can carry into NYC.

NYC requires registration of all firearms, including shotguns and rifles, and the process to get a permit is a bear.

The 2nd Amendment is quoted verbatum as part of the NY Civil Rights Code. Try suing for your right. Better yet, set up a class-action suit - I'll join you on the NYC part.

Look at what is happening in Ohio.
There must be some atty in NYC that is pro gun.

The problem with lawsuits in NY is that the courts are full of leftists appointed by Mario Cuomo, or liberals elected by the huge Democratic majority.

Try to find a jury of 12 citizens who would look at a court case objectively, what you would get are people on the government payroll or dole who have the time to sit on a jury.

OK, so I am defeatist, but this is NY, land of the liberal.

Case in point. In suffolk county the county PD (the issuing authority in part of the county for pistol permits) adds restrictions to the state pistol license that will not allow license holders, who would otherwise be able to carry in other parts of the state, to carry except to and from a range. Local RKBA groups successfully lobbied the County Legislature to require the PD to follow the state law and not restrict carry by permit holders. The legislature and county executive passed a resolution requiring the PD to follow state law with no restrictions.

The PD commissioner refused to follow the legislatures resolution, and the legislature will not have him removed nor will they force him to follow state law.

We have a county PD commissioner who defied the legislature's wishes and gets away with it, and the legislators do not have the b***s to stand up to him!

Look at the recent passing of gov Puketakis gun law, most of the REPUBLICAN state senators in the downstate areas voted for the bill. (Including my supposed pro RKBA state senator).

We are in a loosing situation, badly outnumbered (1.9 Mil more registered Democrats statewide) and with few friends to count on.

Wish I could help with a lawsuit, but I will have to leave that to you legal types.
