Hey all,

Looks like I am in the market for a shotgun. Ideally it will be a two use rifle, I'd like to get a a shorter barrel for home defense and a longer barrel for clays/birds. Does such a shotgun exist?, and if they do are they worth it?

You could buy a Remington 870 with the 28" vent rib barrel for clays and then buy a shorter barrel to put on it when you're not out shooting skeet. The 18.5" Breacher Barrel would by my choice... ported strike muzzle, simple bead sight, around $160 I believe. Of course I would also upgrade the magazine tube to hold more shells while you were at it.

Combos, or shotguns with two interchangeable barrels are quite common. Both Remington and Mossberg have their entry level pump guns in several combo packages at attractive prices. Typically there's a long barrel with a vent rib for bird hunting and a shorter barrel. The short barrel might be an 18.5-inch security model or a 20-inch deer hunter.

thanks guys, I didn't realize this was so common. So that is going to make choosing one harder ;-)
