Suggestions for attaching recoil pad to metal buttplate?

I was wondering if anyone has experience with something like this. I have a Choate top-folding SG stock for my 870, and I've successfully shortened it to a more useful LOP. Question is: What would be the best way to attach a nice recoil pad to the crappy little steel buttplate on there? The only way I could think of was simple black cable ties. Functional but amateur.
Thanks for any help

Ledbetter thanks for the suggestion. That would be great, except the buttplate moves when the stock is folded, and as such, the recoil pad can't protrude forward of the buttplate itself. I'm thinking glue and tiny screws into holes drilled into the buttplate might do it.... But I'll wait for some more input.

Easy answer

I made a adjustable one(can move sideways and up and down) for a target stock, using "stick-on" velcro tape. The sticky on the tape wasn't really strong enough for continued use so I eventually used contact cement, now it stays put. If you want yours permanently attached you could dispense with tape altogether, just use contact cement.

Just about any epoxy will work. Make sure its where you want it before it sets up as you wouldnt be able to blow it off with dynamite once its cured...
