Suggestions for a summer CC carry pistol

I am looking for recommendations for a small pistol for summer time CC. I would prefer a 9 mm that I can pocket carry and/or ankle carry but won't rule out a .380 if I have to go smaller pistol frame size.

I looked at a couple of 38 spl. revolvers but the S&W 642 airweight and Ruger LCR just seem to wide to me and the grip seems too long to me for summertime CC.

My summer attire is typically cargo short and tee shirt or polo shirt. For dressier occasion pants are usually kakies.

Please provide your experiences and suggestions. I'll then look much more closely and try renting a few for trials.

Thanks

I've previously owned a Kel-Tec P3at, and for summer carry, it couldn't be beat. That's where the kudos stop, however, as the firearm was as unreliable as anything I've ever owned. I have heard from other LEO friends that the p32, same gun different caliber, is awesome.

I'd say anything along those lines, Ruger LCP, LC9, the S&W Bodyguard, the various Taurus pistols, Kahr's line of Cm9, 40 and 380, just to mention a few.

My next purchase of a pocket pistol is down to the Kahr cm9 or the Bodyguard. Just got to get the wife to pick out which one she wants, lol.

I have a Keltec P3AT which is reliable after a fluff-and-buff if I don't limp-wrist it. Easiest gun to conceal ever. I'm replacing it with another 380, though, a Sig p238, as soon as the pocket holster for the Sig arrives. Heavier and a smidgen thicker, but much easier to shoot. You won't go wrong with either choice, the Keltec just might require more effort initially.

Of course, there are small 9mm too, but since I don't have any direct experience I'll let others chime in. I will say that my Dad has a very small Taurus 9mm that he absolutely loves, so take that for whato it's worth.

EDIT: You dress just like me. If you get a pocket pistol and a holster like those sold at pocketholsters.com, you'll never have to leave your gun at home again. I used to, because it just didn't work with my clothes, but the little 380s have changed that. Now, you can pretty much guarantee that if I'm wearing pants, there's a gun in them.

Kahr PM9 (or CM9 for less $)
Smooth DAO trigger, well made, very shootable 9mm despite the smaller size

It's the same general size as a BG380 just a little thicker.

I agree, Kahr all the way for conceal carry. CM9 (if you can find one) or PM9. The CM9 is a lesser expensive version of the PM9. Both are 9mm

Summer carry? And you won't rule out 380? Then consider the Ruger LCP 380. Compact, light, accurate, and a lil' canon. :)

I can state that my S & W Bodyguard 380 in a Nemesis holster in my front pocket, as long as the pants aren't skin tight, is as concealable as it gets, and comfortable as well

My new Glock 36 goes in a a tuckable IWB holster; a little bigger but more firepower.

All things being equal, I don't even feel the Bodyguard and forget it's there.

For warm weather carry, it's hard to beat a Ruger LCP. I have a S&W Airweight 637 but it usually gets trumped by the little Ruger. It's easy to carry and conceal, even in a pocket and it's accurate and reliable.

I just bought an LCP for this very reason. It's getting warm and concealing my gun is getting tougher. I carry the little .380 in my front or back pocket in a slim holster I made for it. I also cobbled one together for my boot.

Gave it a good workout this morning at the range. The little beastie can shoot! Not as punishing as some say, but nothing you'll want to run 200 rounds through every week.

Great little sub $300 peace of mind.

I wear cargo shorts too in the summer, the new colt new agent fits perfectly and cant be detected. I had it in my pocket all day Sunday not one person could tell and it is a .45
