Suggestions for a scope. Quality balanced with Price

Hey people. I am not all that knowledgable about scopes and what names are good and which are just overpriced. I was thinking about putting a red dot scope on my AR and a decent 3-9 power on my Savage 110 .308

I would like to get something that will be decent. I can't break the bank and the usage will be for no farther than to 200 yards for 99.999% of the time. The AR is going to be for 100 yards and less though. My buddy has a 3-9 power simmons on his AR and it worked okay for me when i tried it.

I guess im just looking for some brands reputaions and price ranges. I will need to keep in the $250 range or less unfortunatly.

I'm not sure if your 250 budget was for both the red dot and scope but for 230 you can get a Leoupold 3x9 at Midway, free shipping and have a great scope with a no questions asked warranty. Don't know much, ie anything about red dot sights.

I've got an Aimpoint Comp XD on my Bushy. IIRC, I paid right at 250 for it. You'll never go wrong with an Aimpoint.

3x9 Leupold VariII or Weaver would be good choices.

check with these 2 places- http://www.bearbasin.com/ http://www.swfa.com/

good prices and good service / HTH

Don't discount Swift scopes. I've got their 4-12x on my AR - the crosshairs are a little thick for my tastes, but other than that, it's an excellent scope. Highly spoken over both at GGVG and Benchrest.com.
