Suggestions for a .45 ACP Striker fired handgun

I wanted some suggestions for a .45 ACP Striker fired handgun. I was looking for an all around model that could function for home defense, at the range and as a concealed carry handgun. Ideally the price wouldn't go over around 800 dollars or so. Thank you.

I have heard and read good things about the Springfield XDm 3.8 Compact. That's what I'm looking into. Has a light rail and extended mags for home use, appears to have a good rep. They have an older model, the XD45 Compact, also, that's very reasonably priced at less than $500.

I've shot a Springfield XDS in 45, and it was a true pleasure to shoot! Something about the grip design made it a breeze to handle and I shot it very well. It's also much smaller and lighter than anything I've had experience with in 45. I'd seriously consider it for CC if you are looking for something that is 45 acp and striker fired specifically.

Otherwise I'd say to get a Gen 4 Glock 21. Probably my favorite do everything 45, although being a full sized handgun, it's going to be a bit much for practical Concealed Carry.

M&P 45 midsize(or compact, but I find the mid to be more ergonomic). Use the extra money to get the Apex Tactical DCAEK and AEK polymer trigger.

Having owned almost all of the other options on the table, I can say with confidence that this is your best option In the striker fired category.

My opinion might change if they ever release the Glock 30S in a Gen 4 platform but for now, this is where I stand. My favorite 45 is the USP 45.... but that's not striker fired.

XDs .45

I researched for a few weeks looking for just the requirements you were looking for and I settled on the Springfield XDs 3.3 .45 ACP. For concealed carry it's perfect, with the 5 round mag. And shoots Very, Very well! I have read where some say the grip is a bit small in this configuration, and my first few shots I thought so to and bought a Pearce Grip Extension. This is a small mag base that extends about 1/2 inch to let your baby finger get a better grip, I then shot and the grip is perfect. There are also 7 round mags that will give you a grip just as good as a full size, for at the range and home defense. I have owned it just a bit over 3 weeks and have become accustomed to the 5 round mag without the extension, and have found that this is the best shooting handgun I own, or have ever shot. I'm 100% satisfied with the XDs 3.3, there is also an XDs 4.0 out with a 4 inch barrel. And a 6 round mag is soon to be available. Check this handgun out and I'm sure you will find what you are looking for all for less than $600.

Full size, it'd be an M&P or an SR45. I like 'em both. A lot. Right now, I only own the SR45. That tells you which one I prefer. God Bless

A vote for the XDm 3.8 Compact if you are stuck on the 45Auto idea. I split my carry time between a 9mm Kahr P9 and a 9mm 4.5" full size XDm (my IDPA match gun).

The M&P45 would be my suggestion as well. The P320 has too high of a bore-axis for my taste. While I like the Kahr and the 30s and would be okay with them, the M&P is better overall.

Now if bigger is okay, the G41 is probably the best of the lot, but it is larger than you may want for CC.

I really like Glocks in 9mm but in .45 I very much prefer the XD / XDM. I have no experience with the single stack XDs line.
