That was interesting.--I think it was only a matter of time that the use of lead in bullets comes to an end. I don't believe a ruling to adopt infringes on anyone's Rights as it is truly a Common Sense Issue. >Lead is a toxic substance.< Many ammunition manufactures currently offer alternatives to lead bullets and shot these days made of copper, brass alloys, and other safer compounds. Such products have allowed me to transition to a safer product for not only my family and I, but also for the Environment. And that's just my humble opinion of this venue. SSMcG

Well....

....Looks like it is time to start stocking up on lead.

Actually I think me statement is a little fractious.

This is not the first report of its kind.

Been going on for a while.

I can't believe shooters buy into lead being hazardous and actually condoning lead alternatives. Alternatives suck, pure and simple. Nothing works as well as lead. You only get lead contamination from handling lead and then eating without washing your hands. Even then the hazard is miniscule.

Hawg Haggen: Well good thing were all entitled to our opinions so long as there substantiated and factual. By the way that young girl with rotating eyes in that pix you posted. She must be a relative of yours. A very pretty Lass on St. Pat's Day. Thanks for sharing.

And the beat, goes on !!

Amen to that and eventually anything can be found to be toxic. All depends on what your agenda is. I find most politicians and federal agencies to be toxic. On top of that, they are suppose to be working for us. ..... ;)

Be Safe !!!

LEAD

No need to wonder why just read the statement just made .
We now know the cool-aid drinker .

Lead is bad . Don,t know why but was told it was by my friendly E.P.A.

LEAD

Trap Shooters have put up with this crap for years . At one time I loaded and shot 1. 1/2 ton of shot a year . Thats 120-25lb.bags or at 1.1/8oz per shell 35,000 shells . No problem with lead .

All the clubs I shot at had zero lead problems and all reclaimed the shot every 5/10 years . It,s a B.S. money maker for the E.P.A. little else .

And don't put lead nowhere near your mouth!! For all them years, I kept my pliers right there in my pocket to crimp all them split shot sinkers on my fishing line. :) Yep, I sure did. No way I'd bite down on one of 'em. No way.
I'd pack up and go home if I forget them pliers. ;)

(Wanna buy a bridge? Cheap?)

Hmm musta been why all my teeth eventually went bad and had to be pulled plus it must have caused enough drain bamage to make me wanna go out and make more smelly smoke..Bartender two more shots please, one for me and 25 grains for my friend Scarecrow here..(Scarecrow's my 44) lol

How bout them Romans and Sabine women, eh???

They used "sugars of lead" to sweeten their drinks- and they knew that lead oxide was poisonous. They haven't taken the lead pipes out of those Roman baths yet either.

It's the oxide that gets ya.

The lead ban craze started as a way to stop hunting/shooting on public (for starters) lands, by saying that the ammo we shoot is a public health hazard. In response, the ammunition companies started experimenting more with non-lead ammunition. With a monkey wrench now thrown into their plans, the "lefties" backed off of it for a while. The call to ban still comes up now and then, because the "environMENTALists" have latched on to it as a way to save the trees and the pretty little furry woodland creatures that taste so good. It's nothing more than, "if we can't ban guns let's ban the ammunition, or at least make it prohibitively expensive". Sure Shot, my friend, I think it's you that has your facts wrong.

Obviously it's well worth paying attention to, but banning lead ammunition is outside of the FDA's purview and the agency knows it. The CBD will probably keep filing these kinds of petitions in order to keep the issue in the public eye. It's easy enough - they seem to get enough funding and it doesn't take a fortune to keep an attorney on staff to pepper the feds with this stuff.

What I'm unsure about is whether or not the exemption of "ammunition" from the TSCA extends to components. If it doesn't, that may be something for us to be concerned about.
