Suggested .44 Goex loads

Does anyone know how much powder quantities vary between the .44 models at Cabelas? I've got the brass frame 1851 Colt which takes 25 grains of Goex, according to the owners guide. Some reviews state that the civilian 1851 Colt in .44 and the 1858 Remington can take 35 grains. What about the 1860 (Pietta)? What about the Uberti Walker and dragoons? What about the Pedersoli Derringer?

With the brass frame guns you need to keep the loads light so you don't ruin the gun. In a steel frame gun, I put as much powder as will fit in the chamber and still be able to ram a ball on top of it.

Found it.

Nearly all of the max loads are in the Q&A on Cabela's site. All brass frames suggested at 25 grains, max. Most of the other.44s take 35. Dragoons and the Walker take 40 and 50.

Load

If I wanted it to last I would never put over 20 gr in a brass frame gun. And if it's a 44 that's about the best load anyway.
