Suggest scope for Magnum Research 10/22

Millett builds scope mounts for grooved receivers so a "full size" scope can be used. I suggest Bushnell 1.5X - 4.5X. This is a bright and clear scope that sells for less than $75.00 on eBay.

I'm not putting your new rifle down at all but I just find it a little funny that a 10/22 target model magically jumps up another $200 just because is has the magnum research name laser-ed into the side.

to answer your question though I think the prostaff rimfire 4x would be a very good choice for a 10/22

You're talking about this rifle?

affirmative ghostrider, it is a ruger 10/22 with a fancier charging handle and aftermarket thumbhole stock, the whole setup can be had for around $500. every place I've seen them advertized is $700+. my LGS had one on hand yesterday, out of curiosity I turned it upside down, the magazines even say Ruger on them.

but as I said I am not trying to put it down at all, some people spend an extra $400 on an AR15 just so that it says Colt on the side instead of smith and wesson. maybe the magnum research has other things that aren't plainly visable but for my purposes I'd rather just buy a Ruger 10/22 and upgrade myself.

Oh wow.

Local shop had it for $560 (new).

There were more "custom" guns in the shop, those were $700+ but they did have more custom parts (better trigger).

For what it's worth, I like Colts too!

Trying to decide between a nice 4X scope like the Nikon or a red dot like the Bushnell TRS-25.

I am a big fan of my 4-12x Redfield Revolution with accu-range reticle.

Also really happy with my Burris Fastfire III 3moa red dot. Nothing but great things to say about it.

both were around $250

A rifle that fine deserves a good scope so for hunting or plinking I'd go with Leopold FX-1 4x28 rimfire or a VX-1 2-7x28 rimfire. For target shooting I'd look for a Weaver RV-9 3-9x32 rimfire w/AO, V16 4-16x42 w/AO or V24 6-24x42 w/AO.

If you ever plan on shooting at an indoor range you might want a scope with an adjustable objective. I've been looking at the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 AO rimfire scope for around $180, I haven't been able to look at one in person but I like what I read in the spec sheet.
