Subcaliber pistol cartridge adaptors

Howdy, friends.

As I post here on my blog, I'm looking for subcaliber adaptors for 12 ga shotguns. I think that, ideally, it would be .38 Spl or maybe even .357 Mag. Anyone have a source?

The last ones I remember were made by Dina Arms, or Dina something and were called the Dina adaptor, for some reason. However this was long ago and I haven't heard about them in a long time.

I read your blog and I can feel your pain. I worked more in a rural area and to keep the chance of ricochet down I carried some 12ga game loads with me. Once I shot a rabid raccoon about three feet from a restaurant window which almost cut him in two. Nobody even looked up! I love the country.

Anyway the .410 adaptors you mentioned, do you think they might chamber a .45Colt or even a .45 S&W round?

Nowhere close to what I'm looking for-- I'm looking for an adaptor that is a dummy shell, and will cycle through an 870 pump shotgun.

If you are thinking you can get 2 or 3 and cycle them through as you would shotshells I think you are out of luck. While there are some that "look" like a dummy shell they were designed for a drop in fit on single and double guns. It might work but I can see a few potential problems.

Long Path, sorry I wasn't thinking, the .410 adaptors wouldn't be rifled and accuracy would be terrible. I did just google Dina Arms and aparantly Numrich Gun Parts is selling them for about $17.00 ea. I might have to get a few more myself.

Okay, I've got a HiVel .410 adaptor, and a Dina .38 Spl adaptor. Both cycle just fine through M1100's and 870s (manually). I've shot the Hi Vel, and it shot okay, I guess, but the puny 90g .410 slugs didn't even dent the mailbox I shot with them. Not real impressive. I'll probably just keep that one loaded with heavy birdshot.

The .38 shell is actually rifled, but it's an AL barrel, so I don't think that I'll be using any jacketed in it. I've got some full wadcutters loaded that I'll try in it, for fun. Haven't had the chance yet.
