Sub-9 and KT sub-2000 cleaning

Suggestions on cleaning bolt area of weapon? Hard to get into bolt area and action (through folded side). There is a screw near the ejection port that appears to open up a twofinger width space. Nothing in the manual on what that is. It is cornered by the safety. I tried getting in the bolt area w/a cleaning rode and a 12GA brush through the butt side. I will get stopped prematurely w/the cocked hammer. The brush doesn't meet the sides too well either. I'm thinking a swap? Its not that dirty. But then the swab will be almost a single or "two-time" use item only. sigh... Is the sub-9 similiar? The manual doesn't give good guidance on this.

Cleaning the Sub 9

Exile,

I'm at work, so I don't have my manual handy and since the gun has become "unlawful" to purchase in California anymore, I keep a low profile with mine and haven't fired it in quite some time.

So why am I writing, 'cause if you remember my first post regarding this weapon, I mentioned that cleaning it is a B*T*H:mad:

My memory is a little foggy, but i do remember taking off two screws on one side to get to the bolt. If you do this BE VERY CAREFUL and by all means, DO NOT PULL THE TRIGGER, once the hammer is forward it is damn near impossible to fix. Plus the tiny springs will fly 20 feet or more. I have very high ceilings with "plant shelves" and shot one of the springs 15 feet away, 10 feet high onto a plant shelf!  Took me a long while to find that sucker.

Great gun, lots of work to keep it thoroughly clean.

Anyone else have a better experience?
