I was out running errands today (that means eating lunch and then gun shopping).

Found this peach of a Blackhawk 5.5" in 45 Colt.

There is a little smudge and a spot of pitting on the barrel where the previous owner got some blood on it and didn't clean it off in time, but it's hardly noticeable on a $275 gun.

I can overlook it, that's for sure.

The best part I that I thought I was all out of 45 Colt ammo. I found a box that I loaded for my S&W hiding in my stash.

Pretty good day, right?

YOU DOG!!!:D

Man I have not had a sweet deal like that is a long time.
Well not on a revolver.
Picked up a nice LE 303 a few weeks back for less than 250.00

I've been wanting a single action for a while. I saw a used $500 Vaquero the other day that I passed up. I like the more traditional look of the Vaquero, but the Blackhawk is a modern classic in its own right, and for the price, I couldn't argue.

For that price I would be helpless and could not say no, congrats on your new gun. Its hard to beat a Blackhawk in 45.

Question: whose blood did he get on the gun?

I asked that too. The guy at the gun store wasn't sure, but he did have some other really cool stories of looking over trade-in guns that had blood inside of them for various other reasons...and I didn't even connect this until now, but the best part is that this all happened on Halloween.

That's a good deal. I picked one up recently for about $100 more, but it was in unfired condition. Around here they seem to go between $400-$500.

I tried it out today. Took me a bit to get comfortable with a one handed cowboy stance, but it grouped nicely.

Glad yours shot well, if you shoot lead you may want to check the cylinder and check the holes, most of the old ones need a little tlc with a reamer to open them up to .4525 to get consistent groups.

That's a great deal. I bought one for $250 but it was a few years ago. I think the 5.5's are a good length for a Blackhawk and I kinda like the wear and tear look yours has. They're working guns.

Good deals...

About 50 days ago I got a S&W Model 10 HB for a measly $200!
Let me tell you how FAST I snatched that one up... I couldn't get the money out of my rsthole fsdt enough!
The revolver is a British Law Enforcment batch that came from the British constanibutry,Seems they were assigned to Bobbies for GP Police duty, It has a soeciak roll vall # etched into the sideplate but it dosen't hinder it's shootability! 4 " bbl with just a bit of holster wear on themuxxle area. Tight, accurate and a good shooter! Have been looking for a 4" "K" frame 'Smith ar a "reasonable price for a ;ong time with no luck...
this one is perfect for what I wanted such a revolver for! I wanted a good .38 Special shooter to learn and Pratice DA shooting with. This one is perfect for that!
Back to your "deal";
You can't beat a Ruger SA revolver, thry are nearly indestructable and shoot very well. Getting a major caliber is a dream come true! The .45LC is a great cartrige!
I have a Vaquero in .357 Mag, Ideal for my ,38 Special based battery.
Hve good luck with your great find!

I love a good old honest wear service gun (especially a Smith & Wesoon.) for a great price. I would love to see pictures!

I agree with you about 45 Colt as well. This is my second gun chambered for such. I also have a 97 year old S&W .455 MKII 2nd Model that fought in the First World War, as was the case with these guns chambered in British .455 Eley, when the Brits sent them back after the war many were re-chambered in the more conventional 45 Colt. That one has pitting consistent with what might be uncleaned blood as well, but it was probably used to brain some Krauts rather than whatever boring reason left the blood stain on my BH ( former owner probably sliced his finger on a foil yogurt lid).
