stupid question

Anyone know which handgun 007 super spies(past and current) used in James Bond movies?
I'm in search of a perfect handgun that's why the stupid question.

In Dr No at the beginging carried a Beretta 1934 32acp. Which "M" took away and gave him a blued Walter PPK in 32acp. Bond has carried that PPk until the last Movie where is now carring a Walther P99 in 9mm.

6mm

Originally James Bond carried a .25 ACP Beretta, but M insisted that Bod change and carry a Walther PPK in .32ACP. The last two Bond movies had the protagionist carrying a Walther P99 in 9mm para. Mark / FL

And you know, I've always been a Bond fan, but come on...a P99? Good God, I was soooo disapointed when I heard that. I mean really, if you were this super spy, and you were going to be carrying, would it be a P99? HECK NO. Probably an HK P7M8, Sig 239, Kahr K9 (or P9), or a Glock 19 or 26.

I believe that in "Never Say Never Again" Sean carried a Walther P-5 (in 9mm) -- look closely as he pulls it out of his shoulder holster when he goes up the stairs in the house that he's staying in about mid-way/thwo-thirds of the way into the film. FUD.

You are correct FUD. Sean Connery does indeed use a Walther P-5 in that movie. It is a great pistol, not widely used in this country, firstly because it is not being manufactured any longer, and as most Walthers, it commands a premium price. I still like them however cause their COOL...PJ

BB, No self respecting Spy would carry something as ugly and unfashionable as a Glock. Of course he carries the P99, he has a choice of colors!

In "Live and Let Die" Roger Moore carried a huge revolver.
Haven't seen it in a while, so I don't remember what it was. A Redhawk or something like that.

Ha ha, yeah, he did come back at the end with the big 44 mag, but hey, if you spent half the movie being chased by alligators with nothing but a PPK, what would YOU do?

12 gauge

And did you guys catch the P99 PLUG in Pierce Brosnan's first appearance as Bond?

"The new Walther! I've been begging Q for one of these for months!"

FUD, Never Say Never doesn't count as an official James Bond movie because it was not a Bracolli & Saltzman production. It was an updated remake of Thunderball.

BLASPHEMY! Never Say Never again was more a Bond film then anything else from the eighties- it starred the REAL 007, Sean Connery.

Arguments over what is "real Bond" will certainly be with us forever, given the various movies (some fully licensed from the books, some only partially), the books themselves, the other books that were written after Fleming's death, etc. :)

FWIW, one of the post-Fleming books, I think, did have Bond using a HK P7. And in the Fleming books he did use, in addition to the Beretta and PPK, guns like the S&W Centennial (6" barrel), long barreled Colt .45 DA revolver (probably a M1917), and a Savage 99 in .250-3000.

For a most interesting speculation as to what Bond should be carrying, see this site:

Humpman, I have read Gardners books and I never realized the ASP really existed! Very cool gun, and has some great thought behind it. Now, a Kahr P9 with smooth grips, titanium slide, the gutter site and ammo window, THAT would be the ticket!

In the latest movie, I know he starts out carrying a P99 but he shoots the bad chick in the big climactic scene at the finish with a 1911.

Check it out.

I'm glad I own both.

Take the long way home...

Gunslinger, thanks. Very interesting Forum!
No, I am not licensed to kill like super spy 007. I am licensed to carry firearms though, anywhere in the US except overseas. Oh boy oh boy am I a good liar or what? :D
The truth of the matter is, I wanted a handgun on my body that is neat, light, concealable but with good stopping power.
I have narrowed down to a few choices but so far I have not yet decided to trade away my G27.

jyn,

I too was in search of the "pinnacle" of carry guns. I was trying to hold out for Kahr to make a polymer .40, but I caved. I bought the P9, and it's VERY secret agent! I absolutely LOVE it! I can take it anywhere, and it just disappears on my person. It's only 8 rounds of 9mm, but I quite often left the house un-armed because of the weight of my carry guns or the lack of desire to wear a concealment garment. Now, I don't have to.

I have to go now... my shoe is ringing. ;)
