Stupid question, gatling gun on private helicopter

Why own a desert eagle? Its not a carry pistol, its not well suited for home defense, its very unpractical but it is bad ass. Because having a helicopter gun ship would be bad ass. Own some land out in the desert and shoot at stuff. :D

In a longer view, Dillon is working on several other projects. Most we will keep under our hat, but one interesting project is that we are now manufacturing an improved 7.62 NATO mini-gun. This is available to US State Department approved governments only, but it’s interesting that a company that traditionally provides progressive loading equipment is now involved with improving progressive UN-loading equipment.

I've wondered about that too, just for curiosity's sake. We know about the NFA regulations for owning machineguns and we know what it takes to fly a helicopter but are there special regulations for combining the two?
 
Here in the state of Florida, brandishing a firearm is automaticaly 5 years.I wonder what you would get for brandishing a mini-gun on a heli??:D

Join the Army and become a chopper door gunner. Three squares, clothes, a roof over your head, a salary, and all the ammo you can shoot.
Oh, forgot to mention it.........Sometimes people shoot back!
 
The guy who owns Dillon also bought the rights to the 134 platform and is now the official manufacturer of miniguns to the US gov't He has them on a couple of helicopters for a variety of reasons.

One, he can, and he gets the tax payers to pay for a lot of it, because its a cost of doing business.

two, they use them for trials and for demo's.

Three. they train people on using them for people who are not directly attached to the US military.

What army are you in? IDF on a holiday? From talking to enlisted and officers there are huge restraints on their ammo. Join a merc... I mean private security group. Burn as much ammo as you can afford through any gun you can afford, get paid extremely well while not having to wait for snaps before firing. Of course you probably won't have medivac. Already 40,000 doing it in Iraq alone.

I really doubt this is illegal. I was acquainted with one of the original tuskegee airmen who had several WWII era fighters with MGs on them. He was pretty wealthy (one of the first black aero engineers), so that probably didn't hurt with the licensing.

But, like anything else, if you have the $ there are probably some legal loopholes you can take advantage of.
 
How much money do you have? Think in terms of 6 figures just for the aircraft. Upwards of 300 grand. Plus 15 to 60 grand for flight training. $450 to $600US for the books alone. Plus the cost of the gun and $200 tax.
"...The guy who owns Dillion reloading has one..." He got into the reloading business to pay for his toys. He's got an armed T-33, as I recall.
 
I have been told thier are 26 fully armed AH1 Cobras in private hands, can't remember where I read that - Reader's Digest, I believe.
 
I know a hot airballoon pilot pretty well. I was once flying with him over a field with deer and thought man it would be great to have my muzzle loader up here. I thought about the gatling on a hot air balloon. That would be hilarious.
