Stud Mount Bipod for AR15

I own a S&W M&P AR15 (MOE) and am considering a bipod. I'm not so much looking for suggestions on what to buy (though feel free to throw some if you please), but I do need to know what my mounting options are? The problem I have is that the MOE has no lower picatinny rail to attach to. It does however have a "stud" on the base of the fixed front A-post sight which I assume is used to directly mount additional hardware or used to mount a rail which would then allow for bipod, laser sight, tac light, etc. Unfortunately, I don't know the correct name for this stud and therefore I'm unsure as to which bipods I can use.

Any help would be appreciated...

One way to go is to get the MOE add on picatinny rail section for < $10, and then a pic mount bipod adapter.

See the bottom of the handguard in this picture, then order one here. That is a bayonet lug in front of the hadguard, as mickm mentioned.

My S & W moe has a gas block and is made for a folding front sight and under it has a place for a stud mount. I guess lots of different type designs.

Thanks all for the info...

I like the idea of adding rail to the current MOE grip as Shanzlik suggests. I didn't realize it was so inexpensive. I also noticed the add-on lever on the bolt release... that looks most interesting. Next step is to find out more about that little toy...;)
