stuck/rusted cylinder latch pin on my Python

Let this be a lesson to everyone out there that doesn't take regular care and feeding of their weapons. My dad let this Python sit for a VERY long time. Now the cyclinder can't be opened.

I tore it down and found that the Latch Pin (part #29 in the schematics" is stuck. I've tried just about enerything I can think of to persuade it out. Unfortunately in doing so I broke off the pin sticking up out of the latch pin that the sliding catch attaches to. I guess it isn't too bad, the replacement part is only $14.00. I've had it soaking in Marvels Mystery Oil for the better part of a year to no avail.

Any ideas on how to get the latch pin out? Thanks,Michael

Kroil

Kroil is an excellent penitrating oil for rusted parts. I would think a YEAR with the Marvels would have loosened it up some. Have you detail stripped it yet? You probably already know this, but the latch pin comes out the back of the frame. That is why you have to remove the Hammer to get it out. You may have to use a punch to lightly tap it out. If you can, take a digital picture of it and post it here, there are a lot of guys on here who are willing to help. Is is Blued?

Here are a couple of pictures. I didn't think it would be so difficult to take clear pictures of this. The blueing seems to soak up a lot of light. As you can see, it would be easy to use a punch to tap the latch pin back out the rear. The problem is that I can't remove the cylinder. Anyone know how to remove the cylinder without having to remove the latch pin?

About the only option here, is to tap a punch into the remaining hole in the latch pin.

Holding the gun steady so it won't move, hold the punch upright and pressed firmly down into the hole.

Use a small hammer to tap the SIDE of the punch rearward.

If necessary, you may have to drill the hole deeper to give the punch a better grip.

You can also warm the area up with a small torch.
I MEAN warm, NOT HOT. Just warm to the hand.

If this doesn't budge it, STOP.
If this doesn't move it, anything else you do will just damage the gun.

Any further attempts will likely get things so torn up that it'll just be more difficult to extract it.

Send it to Colt, or Pittsburgh Handgun Headquarters for a repair.

What Dfariswheel says. Soak in oil overnight to loosen. Then Drill & tap. Insert bolt/screw that has a plate attached to it. Pull/tap on plate (think of axle puller).
