Striker fired LCP for anyone?

With the release of the Ruger LC9 in a striker fired platform, I would be very interested in an LCP in the same. I used to own an LCP in gen 1, but I hated the trigger. It was far too heavy for me to enjoy, and I like shooting pocket pistols. So I sold it, but now the potential of a striker fired version would make me buy one.

Anyone know if they might be planning such a thing? I found one thread about it on another forum, and a lot of people said they wouldn't want one at all, and certainly not without a manual safety. Is this really a valid concern even in a pocket gun? I've never had any fear of striker guns AD and wouldn't have any concerns with an LCP, should I? Would you guys buy one?

Nope. Not until they remove the manual safety and mag disconnect.
The Ruger LCP has neither.

Elerius, you might take another look at currently manufactured LCPs. The linkage has been modified so that the hammer is pre-set further back, resulting in a significantly shorter (and perhaps slightly lighter?) trigger pull.

I never realized that there even WAS a gen 2 until last night when I looked up threads about a striker fire. If the hammer system has been changed, then it definitely warrants another look.

That brings the question, why did they make an LC9 with a striker if they could have made a second generation with a half set trigger like the LCP?

The LC9s seems to have a nice trigger. I was able to handle one at the gun show last weekend and it was in FAR batter than the LC9.

I would certainly be interested in what an LCPs might shoot like. I'm shopping for a pocket gun right now; maybe I should hold off and wait to see what they come up with.

I wondered the same thing and that is what I expected they would do. The LC9s surprised me. Just due to my personal quirks I would have preferred an improved hammer system but with the viewing port replacing the loaded chamber indicator as on the LC9s.

Striker Fired Pistols

I am not fond of striker fired pistols at all. I like a hammer, even more so I like a pistol that fires double action for the first shot, and single action thereafter. Almost of my pistols are like that, because those are the types of pistols I was trained on and carried for many years. I mostly have S&W pistols, but have three Walthers as well. I suppose it is a liability concern that all of the M&P pistols are double action only, but I will not buy one.

The only thing that would make me stop carrying my current LCP would be a striker fired same sized LCP.

So yeah I'd seriously consider one.

My Elsie is fine just the way she is. No way would I trade her hammer for a striker, and the manual safety that would be sure to follow!

Trigger on my lcp is excellent. Smooth and appropriately light. I wouldn't change anything on it. Can imagine a striker fired trigger being any better.

I held pff buying a LCP when they first came out because of that long trigger pull. The Gen 2 trigger is much better so much that I now own one.

I doubt anyone outside of Ruger knows.

Is there enough length in that slide for a striker and it's springs?

Personally, I wouldn't be terrible interested in one. The LCP is not a gun I shoot for fun.
