Last night, watching parts of the Democratic convention broadcast, Caroline Kenneddy Schlossberg appeared. In her remarks, there was support for "gun control". Also mentioned was the fact that she had written a book on The Bill of Rights. Turns out that two people authored it, she and Ellen Alderman.
Anyhow, I got a copy of In Our Own Defense from the library today, and found the short discussion of The Second Amendment, which revolved mostly around the enactment of the infamous Morton Grove Il ban on handguns, though there was passing mention of Miller v. U.S.
According to Kennedy-Alderman,page 100 of the above mentioned book, The Court concluded, in Miller that "the right to keep and bear handguns is not guaranteed by The Second Amendment", which is rather strange since the subject of Miller was the possession of a sawewd-off shotgun, that had been transported in interstate commerce. Handguns were never mentioned.
I guess it is unkind of me to quibble over mere details, the goofs and or factual daring do of a well meaning, concerned, sweet young thing type female Kennedy, but I guess that is merely another of the failings that I will have to live with.
Iam however, willing to bet that if a Republican had made so outrageous a statement, that our stalwart media guardians of truth and virginity would be all over the offender, like a cheap suit.
As I said in the title, "Strange, the things one can learn".
